NAWIC Region 11 Annual Planning Conference (APC)

12 warmly welcomed our assembly to Richmond, VA, sharing her love of construction and her family connections to our industry. The Honorable Viola O. Baskerville, Secretary of Administration, Commonwealth of Virginia, was our guest speaker encouraging our members to persevere, to follow our hearts, and be true to ourselves.

Hosted by the Richmond, VA Chapter #141 this year, the NAWIC Region 11 APC was held October 20th and 21st at the Holiday Inn Select Koger Center, was attended by 17 NAWIC Chapters from North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia, and included 3 NAWIC National Board Members, and 1 guest. Swift Creek Srevice Unit Troop #893 Presented Colors which was soon followed by Katie Siple’s beautiful Patriotic Medley. Andrea McDaniel of WWBT-TV Channel 12 warmly welcomed our assembly to Richmond, VA, sharing her love of construction and her family connections to our industry. The Honorable Viola O. Our workshops were: Listening and the Key to Effective Communications and The Art of Appreciation both by Wray K. Powell, President of Wray K. Powell & Associates, Estimating or Guesstimating by Mike Cast, Project Manager of Donley’s; Surviving an OSHA Inspection by Anna E. Jolly, CHMM a partner of Circle Safetly and Health Consultants, LLC, The Why and How of the Design/Build Delivery System by Mike Blesiada, Vice President of Marketing & Business Development for Donley’s, and Reducing Stress in the Workplace by Maria Beall, Fitness Instructor and Director at the Woodlake Fitness Center. Entertainment at lunch on Saturday by local R & B group, Bak N Da Day, was fantastic! Our NAWIC #141 APC Committee headed by Susan States of Barranger & Company, Inc. did a fantastic job! We were well represented at the podium during APC by local member, and our Region 11 Director, Judee Lane, CIT of Capital Door Systems, Inc.
